What is CMR Certificate?
The CMR document is among the most basic documents that people need to have in order to carry out land transportation in the international arena. All rights of both the sender, the receiver and the logistics company that carries out the transport are protected by this document. For example, if the sending company does not fulfill its obligations, the steps to be followed by the logistics and receiving companies are specified in the CMR document.
The logistics companies and persons who will carry out the transportation in the land transportation operations to be carried out through the member countries of the CMR Agreement need the CMR document. The CMR agreement is currently accepted by 56 countries.
Things to Consider While Moving
While doing international transportation, it should be checked by the carrier that the data written in the CMR document and the total parcels and products brought for shipment are checked and that the correct information is written on the CMR document.
Before the transportation, the packaging of the products to be shipped must be checked for the clear appearance of the products to check that the products are intact. Even if the shipping company does not have an obligation to control the products, it has the right to request control in order to prevent problems that may occur in the products.
According to the CMR document, exporters and importers are responsible for the accuracy of all data on the document. In the event that the data on the document and the transported products do not match, the exporter and importer have the right to indemnify the shipping company.
The CMR document should always be issued by the exporter to check the accuracy of the products to be transported. However, the transport company is responsible for the safety and protection of the goods until the delivery date, after taking over the products to be transported.
